Our Storytelling Events
The Forest Storytelling Festival
Since 1994, we have hosted this festival in Port Angeles on the third weekend in October each year. We feature regional and national tellers, with storytelling events for all ages, workshops, and a free program for the local schools. This 3-day event attracts attendees from throughout the Northwest, Idaho, California and Canada and is the longest running festival of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. The festival features world-class performers from the United States and abroad, as well as notable northwest tellers. Featured tellers not only perform, they also offer workshops on various aspects of storytelling.
Each March we have a Celtic themed evening to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Stories from Ireland and Scotland share the stage with music from the Celtic lands.
Our Liars’ Contest brings tellers of tall tales, exaggerated real-life stories, and downright lies into the spotlight. They entertained audiences while competing for “incredible” (read, “re-used”) trophies and actual cash prizes!
We held our first ghost story event in 2011 at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center.
