Story Swaps

Story Swap at Port Angeles Library

The audience is an integral part of a story swap.

Enraptured by a story; all tellers need a good audience!

Starting in January 2015, our story swap will be meeting on the third Tuesday of the month, from September through June. Our meeting is in the Raymond Carver Room of the Port Angeles branch of the North Olympic Library System (2210 S. Peabody St.); there is no charge. Stories are typically aimed at audiences of adults and teens, not young children.

Our (flexible) schedule is like this:

7:00 – 8:00 The Featured Teller shares stories.

Come listen to stories! Spend an evening being entertained and enchanted in a different way from watching TV or a movie. Click on the specific month’s blog post for details.

8:00 – 8:15 Break for refreshments

8:15 – 9:00 Open mic for anyone to share a story.

There is no pressure to tell a story; feel free to stay for the open mic and hear a variety of tellers. Or, try telling a story with a friendly supportive audience!

Stories at open mic are typically 5-10 minutes long. All stories are told, not read.

Story Swaps use storytelling — the most accessible and universal of all human activities — to open the doors of communication. Come, listen, expand your life — walk in the shoes of another!
